Halfhill, with the ranch on the left, the market in the foreground, the inn on the right.
Do you have a green thumb? Do you like doing dailies? Then the Tillers are here for you! (And if you haven’t been back to Pandaria in over two years, they’re still waiting for you.)
The Tillers (short for Tiller’s Union) are a small group of pandaren farmers that work the land in the fertile Valley of the Four Winds in the centre of the Pandarian continent.
At level 85, players can pick up Everything I Know About Cooking (A)/Everything I Know About Cooking (H), which sends them to Halfhill, the small village in the Valley of the Four Winds where the Tillers are based. Once here, they may quickly level up their cooking (as Pandarian cooking requires only a skill level of 1), and go visit Farmer Yoon in Sunsong Ranch.
A fully unlocked and upgraded ranch.
The ranch is a small phased area that initially starts with the garden being choked with vines and rocks. Farmer Yoon has inherited his farm from his father, and although he has the knowledge, he lacks the expertise to properly work the land. The Tillers look down on him for this, and he enlists the player to help him build the farm up earn their respect, with the quest A Helping Hand.
It doesn’t take long to reach Friendly with the Tillers, and it is at this point that daily quests open up, and certain members of the Tillers can be accessed. They provide more quests, offering to help Yoon if the player will help them first. As the reputation with the Tillers increases, farm improvements will unlock, such as the irrigation system and the pest repellers, which allow treating four plots at once for dryness and pests, and the master plow, allowing the tilling of four plots at once.
An example of Dark Soil.
Around the Valley one will find plots of Dark Soil. These provide a random ‘gift’ item that will give a reputation gain to the Tiller who prefers them. These are lootable at level 90. Each Tiller may also accept their favourite food, which can be made or purchased from elsewhere. This will increase the player’s standing with them, ranging from the lowest level of Stranger to the highest level of Best Friend (much like Nat Pagle.)
At Revered with the Tillers, players can purchase Grand Commendation of the Tillers, doubling the reputation gain for the Tillers on that character, and alts as well. A toy, Pandaren Scarecrow, can also be bought.
Exalted standing allows the player to finally buy the mounts, Reins of the Black Riding Goat, Reins of the Brown Riding Goat and Reins of the White Riding Goat. As well, a toy, Gin-Ji Knife Set is sold. Note that the Knife Set is no longer usable in dungeons or raids.
