Ah, November, when the temperatures start rising and I wish it was getting closer to winter so I don’t have to endure the stifling heat of my bedroom in summer.
In November are Guy Fawkes Night on the 5th (aka Bonfire Night in the UK), the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution (Russia used the Julian calendar at the time, so it was November for the rest of the world, which used the Gregorian calendar), and US Thanksgiving. And what’s as American as pumpkin pie after the turkey? Black Friday (and the following Cyber Monday), and the ensuing violence across the country as people cram into ‘big box’ stores for those sweet, sweet sales.
Side note: Way back in 2012, when I first started playing WoW, I’d bought up to and including Cataclysm, and decided to spring for Mists of Pandaria. I did this three days before the price dropped for the Black Friday sale (which, living in New Zealand, I had no idea about). Understandably, I was annoyed, to say the least.
So here are some cats showing various emotions about Black Friday, and, as a bonus, a clip from ‘The Nanny’ in which Fran takes Gracie to the semi-annual Loehmann’s sale. The thumbnail says it all.
