PvP Teams

Post by Jedikitten » May 16th, 2015, 7:10 pm

I've noticed that a lot of us seem to be at the point where we need to start PvPing, but are avoiding it...myself included. I have also noticed that some PvP tips have popped up in various threads, and figured that having a central place to reference for PvP information would be helpful.

The one I've seen suggested the most is the 'crows' team that uses Alpha Strike, Call Darkness, and Nocturnal Strike. I tried a version of this team for the first time last night, and it worked nicely. Granted I only did a couple of fights, but I did win both, so I consider it a decent success.

The team I used is below; and it is definitely not optimal. Speed stacked pets are preferred, and also ones that have both Call Darkness AND Nocturnal Strike are the ones that are usually suggested for the Crows team, but like I said, this one worked ok for the few fights.
[tdo=2]My First PvP Team[/tdo][tdo=2]Note: I'm still working on the best formatting for showcasing the teams, so the "look" of this information may change a bit as I figure it out. :)[/tdo]
Gilnean Raven B/BAlpha Strike, Call Darkness, Nocturnal Strike
Sentinel's Companion P/SPeck, Nocturnal Strike, Ethereal
Cursed Birman P/SSpirit Claws, Call Darkness, Devour
Looking forward to seeing what suggestions you all have!

My first few wins were with a dragonkin magic team but it was a case of if i got into a battle it was always with the same person using a flying team. I havent tried since then though

Moved this over from my thread on the old forum as we discussed last night :)

These are the teams that I have had the best success / most fun with. Certainly victory depends on the enemy you face and how you utilize the team, so of course there is no such thing as a 100% wins team.

Hopefully someone will find some of this useful :)

There are a lot of really good comps listed above, but these are a few additions that I've found have worked well for me:

Graves (H/P - 1/1/2), Fragment of Anger (H/P - 2/1/1) and Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (S/S - 1/2/2)
Unborn Val'kyr (B/B - 2/2/1), Fiendish Imp (S/S - 1/1/2) and Teroclaw Hatchling (H/P - 2/2/2)
Ghastly Kid (H/H - 1/2/2), Graves (H/P - 1/2/2) and Frostwolf Ghostpup (P/P - 1/2/2)

Depending on the situation, one of these three comps should be able to break the opposing team if played well. There is always RNG and oddball teams that can cause upsets, but if you get good with these teams you can bet you'll win the majority of the time!

It's not a great team but I seem to win more than I lose with it. Mechancial Pandaren Dragonling, Soul of the Aspects, and Fossilized Hatchling.

lol I love the way you described that.
I haven't been doing much PPvP... in fact I totally missed the last pet battle holiday, but I am kind of loving my three fragment team, one of each Anger, Desire, and Suffering. There are some good AoE attacks and some avoidance as well. I'll have to look and double check what abilities I have them each set to use.

All right, fine. Maybe now that I finally have Graves I should go out and PvP.

Graves was wrecking me the last PvP holiday.

Right now my team for PvE is usually Graves, Cinder, and Murkalot.

Starting with Murkalot he Righteously Inspires and then flows into Graves who AoEs to his little heart's content with both Bonestorm and Grave Destruction (with Consume used between to balance CDs). Usually he's killed off after a round of both his AoEs but sometime he can get another bonestorm off.

Cinder comes in to help catch with superbark, defend with puppies of the flame, or dot with flamethrower.

If I end up with both Graves and Cinder down Murkalot can usually finish off what's left with a hard hitting Inspired Falling Murloc.

I'm actually looking forward to the pvp scene this next time because of that. Is there another reason I should be PvPing more?

My go to PVP team that wins more than loses is

Lil' Bling 1/1/1
Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling 1/2/2
Celestial Dragon 1/1/2

Celestial Dragon is definitely the weak spot in my team so I might change it out eventually. But I only pvp for the holiday quest so it doesn't really matter.
