Hello, Readers.

The Q&A on Thursday proved very interesting. While a lot of the questions focused on the upcoming patch 7.3, we did get answers on upcoming catch-up mechanics, as well as some interesting insight into how the developers go about things such as nerfs buffs and where they went wrong in previous patches. I strongly recommend listening in to the Q&A when you get the chance. You can find the VOD in the Warcraft segment of the newsletter.

In other news, the developers have been experimenting with scaling technology for pet battling. Talk of its implementation revolves mainly around the PTR, however the technology has already been applied to Pet Tamer Crysa on the live servers. So far this technology is only being applied to Crysa (on live) and Environeer Bert (on PTR) however what happens next is anyone's guess.

The scaling works based on your highest level pet. So if, for example, you have two level 1 pets and a level 25 sitting in your third slot, the tamers pets will scale to the 25 pet rather than the level ones. The experience awarded from a fight is also scaled appropriately to the level of pets you are using and fighting against.

While so far the usage of this tech is limited, it could potentially mean that pet battle dungeons could be scaled, allowing collectors of all stripes better access to the content.

I hope you all have a good week.

Member Signatures
Last week we announced that A3 was in the process of updating the way it displays information necessary to process adoption requests. Previously this information was stored in members' signatures, which meant there was no room for personalization in the signature. The information is now stored in the member's profile and displayed in the view-topic information pane to the left of posts.

As such, members are once again welcome to personalize their signatures! We encourage members to decorate their signatures and have fun with it!

Please remember that the A3 community is family-friendly; as such your signatures must be family-friendly as well. We also ask that members seek admin/moderator approval before including any links to sales or service websites. In addition to these guidelines, please remember the following:

  • You may use BBCode.
  • You may include images. Maximum Image Size: 500w x 125h.
  • You may include a maximum of 3 URLs.
Wild Pet Capture Service
Above all else... A3 loves collecting pets! Collection doesn't just stop at pets that can be traded and adopted though - there are a few worlds' worth of wild pets out there waiting for collectors, too! A few of us would like to offer our love of hunting wild pets to A3 members to help them also round out their wild pet needs.

Each week (sometimes a few times each week!) we will comb zones to help members find the wild pets they are still after. We will turn a zone upside-down and inside-out looking for your pet(s) and message you once we've found them. You will then come and capture it! If you would like to take advantage of this service, but aren't available during our typical times, please don't hesitate to contact us and ask about alternative days and times.

Specifications Allowed

✔ Both Factions
✔ All Zones
✔ All Pets
✔ Any Quality
✔ Any Breed
✔ Any Specifics (color, size, etc.)

Pet Suppliers
Do you want to help supply pets for adoption that A3 needs? We have a Pet Suppliers thread where members can sign up to sponsor certain pets they are willing to supply. When the supply of certain pets starts to run low or we have an upcoming project where we’ll need more of a certain pet – we’ll send out a notification about that pet to our suppliers! There is no guess work and no 24/7 farming because we’ll let you know when we’re in need of the pets.

There are no quotas to meet when supplying the pets that you signed up for. You can provide whatever amount you are comfortable with.

New supply options were recently added! New options include common vendor and non-Legion pets.

There are 100's of supply options available, but below you will find the newest options added to the supply request sign-up sheet. These options are especially in need of suppliers right now.

Please note that the sign-up sheet is organized according to which expansion each pet was introduced in, not the expansion "zone" that they are found in.

The Netherlight Crucible And You

Hey guys!

So, after yesterday's Q&A, it's become apparent that there's still some confusion about the Netherlight Crucible and how it works. We've been keeping an eye on your discussions about the topic, and wanted to give some explanations where we can, as well as open up a thread for any additional questions you may have.

Q: How do the Relic "talents" unlock?

A: As your Artifact increases in level (by spending Artifact Power), your Relic slots will level up as well. When you first unlock the Crucible, you'll have access to the first additional trait (a +5 increase to your Artifact's item level) in each slot. The second row unlocks at Artifact level 60, 63, and 66 (for the left, center, and right Relic slots respectively), and the third and final row unlocks at Artifact level 69, 72, and 75. This should all be pretty apparent when you look at those slots in-game, but may not be showing clearly via datamined info.

Q: What did you mean by "it can't double roll a trait"?

A: Just that you will never be able to upgrade a Relic to increase the same Artifact trait twice. If your Relic already has a bonus rank of Wrath of the Ashbringer on it, that trait will not be one of the three options presented in the bottom row of the Crucible's upgrade tree.

In other words, there's no risk of having your Wrath of the Ashbringer relic be "ruined" by not rolling a second bonus to Wrath of the Ashbringer, because that could never have happened in the first place. However, if you get a relic without Wrath of the Ashbringer, there's now a chance that it'll gain it from the Crucible.

Additionally, those three options will always be unique; it won't, for example, give you the "choice" between Deflection, Deflection, or Deflection. Aside from making sure you always have options, this means that your odds of having your favorite trait appear on a Relic you'd otherwise have discarded are actually pretty decent.

Q: How do the ranks for the first two rows work?

A: There are no such ranks. We think this is coming from some confusion about how the Netherlight Crucible is showing up in datamining, versus how it actually operates in-game. Once you've unlocked a row in the Crucible, you just select the option you like, and that's it - there's no additional leveling up of those options beyond that.

For those peeking into the data (or anyone else who might be curious): this is because of how we built the system to allow the unlockable effects to stack between each relic. It's just a subtle behind-the-scenes optimization on our end.

Hopefully that will help clear the air about how the Netherlight Crucible works, but we're sure you have more questions, so ask away and we'll do our best to answer what we can! We'll aim to provide an update sometime next week. Thanks!

Connecting A3ers through Discord
Image
A3 is always looking for new and interesting ways to connect with its members. One of our greatest hurdles, though, is connecting members to each other. With everyone playing on different servers, different factions, and the limitations of the friends list – many of you have probably never had a chance to connect. We hope to use the Discord App to help solve that!

The major perk of an app like Discord is that communication is live. Meaning – you can see it on the fly (assuming you are logged in). This will be an advantage over the forum or twitter where you need to check in throughout the day. It will be especially helpful with organizing groups, sharing rare spawn information with others, or just getting to know your fellow A3ers!

Help Support A3
Did you know that A3 has bills? It’s true! A3 has monthly and yearly bills related to the cost of operating the Agency. We earn some funds from ads on the site but most of A3’s operating costs are paid out of pocket.

Operating costs are the costs required to run the community – these do not include the costs of sponsoring giveaways. A3 is a volunteer operated project and we need the help of our members to keep the site online.
Currently, less than 4% of our members have contributed to assist with operating costs. Fewer than 1% of our members have contributed more than once.

A few spare dollars here and there can go a long way! Donations are accepted through PayPal and Patreon.
