Newsletter July 25: Welcome To The Changes

Post by piwakawaka » July 25th, 2016, 4:20 am

July 2016
Year 2, Issue 30

Hello, Readers.

The Legion changes have been out for the better part of a week now, and hopefully you're all starting to get a feel for at least your main class. For those of you with ex-treasure hunters, I hope you're making the most of those extra garrison resources to buy mats from the Trading Post and make a spot of gold.

Make sure you look around your nearest capital for the Doomsayers. Collecting all the different pamphlets gives a Feat of Strength, http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=1106 ... -sense-now.

I hope you're all enjoying your bank space. I've found a whole heap of stuff I never realised I had, and as such now actually have bank space on my most used characters. Between the additions to the Toy Box, the new wardrobe, and the realisation that 'Oh! I never unlocked all those lockboxes!', it makes a huge difference. Once I get my B.O.A Baleful gear sorted it'll be even better.

For those of you who haven't already, make sure you delete your WTF, Interface and Cache folders in your World of Warcraft folder. With big patches like this one, old information in these folders can interfere with your playing experience. There is no point to dealing with more bugs than we already have from the patch dropping after all.

I hope you have a good week,

Battle Pet Tuning
During Legion Alpha blizzard proposed a number of pet tuning changes. There have been some adjustments to the original discussion now that the pre-patch is live. Many players know about the adjustment to the Howl Bomb strategy, but other changes may have been overlooked. We want to be sure that A3ers are feeling informed as to these tuning changes!
  • The Undead Racial has been changed. During its invulnerability round, the active Undead pet will now do -25% damage.
  • Frog Kiss and Sleeping Gas now have a 1-round cooldown.
  • Arcane Storm, Avalanche, Carpnado, Psionic Storm and Thunderbolt have had their base damage reduced by about 15%.
  • Avalanche and Thunderbolt now have a 5-round cooldown.
  • Cleave damage has been reduced to 25%.
  • Shell Armor has had its duration reduced to 2 rounds (previously 3 rounds).
  • Howl Bomb
  • Graves [col]Previous Stats @25|Current Stats @25[/col]
WarcraftPets.com has also discovered some changes that were not documented within the original discussion or the patch notes:

Additional Changes
Menagerie & Pet Charm ChangesImage
Several changes have occurred within the Garrison's pet Menagerie building with the pre-patch that players should be aware of.

Revive Battle Pets Spell
Garrison perks have been removed. This includes the perk from the http://www.wowhead.com/item=111998/menagerie-level-2 that previously reduced the cooldown of the http://www.wowhead.com/spell=125439/revive-battle-pets spell by half while in Draenor has been removed. The cooldown of this spell while in Draenor is once again 8 minutes. Please note that the tooltips do not reflect this change yet.

Menagerie Daily Pet Battle Quest
The daily pet battle quest in the pet Menagerie by http://www.wowhead.com/npc=85418/lio-the-lioness is now account-wide. This means that it can only be completed once-per-account-per-day, instead of once-per-character-per-day. While many players originally assumed this was a glitch, the change has been confirmed as intentional. The confirmation was discovered in the German Technical Support forum in the official World of Warcraft forum here.

Pet Charms
As reported in several earlier PawPrint Press editions, http://www.wowhead.com/item=116415/pet-charm rewards have been reduced by about 1/2 for Draenor Trainer and Garrison dailies. The values remain the same for http://www.wowhead.com/item=127751/fel- ... t-supplies at 1 or 2 per bag.

Pet PvP
Queued pet PvP matches now have a chance at rewarding Pet Charms.

Cross-Realm Functionality on RP Realms

Patch 7.0 included some server-side changes to the way our cross-realm and sharding technologies work. While these changes were made to improve system and server performance, they inadvertently affected Role Playing realms and communities in a way we did not intend.

We recognize the issue this has caused for the role playing community, and have been hard at work on some improvements to our tech that will allow us to disable it entirely in certain areas on RP servers. In those designated areas, players on RP realms will not be automatically mixed with players from other realms, nor will they be split into multiple “shards”. In other words, if you’re on an RP server, you won’t have trouble finding other people from your realm in these areas, and shouldn’t see very many (if any) players from other realms.

Additionally, it’s worth clarifying that our previous rules which prevented RP realms from being automatically CRZ’ed with non-RP realms have not changed, even outside of these designated areas. However, please be aware that our party-based cross-realm tech is still in place, so if someone from another realm groups up with someone on your realm, you might see them.

We’re currently applying these changes to Stormwind and Orgrimmar, and North American realms should be starting to see their effects. Realms in other regions will pick the changes up with their next restarts. Once we’ve had some time to see how these changes are working out in action, we’ll begin applying them to other common social hubs (such as other capital cities, Elwynn Forest, etc.), with the goal to eventually roll this out to the vast majority of the game world. The only exceptions will be a few very specific locations where sharding is needed to prevent major performance issues, particularly with the upcoming expansion launch.

Again, our goal was never to disrupt the role playing community, and we apologize for any distress or confusion this has caused those players.

New World of Warcraft Site & Forums Coming July 26

As we prepare for a new chapter in Azeroth’s story, we thought it was an auspicious time debut an all-new World of Warcraft site. Consider it your future home for all things WoW, with an all-new home page, game section, new player and returning player guides, and much more.

As with any new undertaking, this site is a work in progress and we’ll be updating it regularly with a variety of features, including updated player profiles, PvP Ladder information, and more.

Once the new site goes live on July 26, you’ll also want to check out the updated forums, which can be accessed by clicking Forums at the top of the page. We’ve put a new coat of paint on things and tidied up a bit to give the forums a cleaner look. Don’t worry, though—all of your posts in the current forums will still be here for you when we transition over, so no packing for the move will be necessary.

Check the blog for images to get an idea of how the site will look on the desktop and on mobile.

Legion Pre-Patch - Grouping and Reset Timer Changes

With Legion on the horizon, we wanted to let you know of an upcoming change that will open up additional grouping opportunities for players. As of the expansion pre-patch, players on North American, Latin American, and Oceanic realms will be able to group together in the open world no matter what realm their party or raid members are on. Players will also be able to see all available groups within the Group Finder, regardless of realm. This update will make it easier than ever for people to play together and group up for adventures like the new World Quests in Legion.

Additionally, reset timers for recurring in-game activities such as daily/weekly quests and raid/dungeon lockouts will be updated to a single unified lockout time of 15:00:00 UTC (8 a.m. PDT / 1 a.m. AEST) for all North American, Latin American, and Oceanic realms. This change will make it more convenient for players, as you will only need to keep track of one reset time. Weekly resets will occur on Tuesdays (early Wednesday mornings for Oceanic realms) at this time.

This is the last team for Challenge 1! Challenge 2 will begin August 1st.
Connecting A3ers Through Discord

A3 is always looking for new and interesting ways to connect with its members. One of our greatest hurdles, though, is connecting members to each other. With everyone playing on different servers, different factions, and the limitations of the friends list – many of you have probably never had a chance to connect. We hope to use the Discord app to help solve that!

The major perk of an app like Discord is that communication is live, meaning you can see it on the fly (assuming you are logged in). This will be an advantage over the forum or Twitter where you need to check in throughout the day. It will be especially helpful with organizing groups, sharing rare spawn information with others, or just getting to know your fellow A3ers!
Wild Pet Capture ServiceAbove all else... A3 loves collecting pets! Collection doesn't just stop at pets that can be traded and adopted though - there are a few worlds' worth of wild pets out there waiting for collectors, too! A few of us would like to offer our love of hunting wild pets to A3 members to help them also round out their wild pet needs.

Each week (sometimes a few times each week!) we will comb zones to help members find the wild pets they are still after. We will turn a zone upside-down and inside-out looking for your pet(s) and message you once we've found them. You will then come and capture it!

There are both Horde and Alliance hunters on standby to help with the pet search, so both factions are welcome.

Entries will be open from:

for: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=33810/senjin-fetish
Do you want to help supply pets for adoption that A3 needs? We have a Pet Suppliers thread where members can sign up to sponsor certain pets they are willing to supply. When the supply of certain pets starts to run low or we have an upcoming project where we’ll need more of a certain pet – we’ll send out a notification about that pet to our suppliers! There is no guess work and no 24/7 farming because we’ll let you know when we’re in need of the pets.

There are no quotas to meet when supplying the pets that you signed up for. You can provide whatever amount you are comfortable with.

New supply options were added on March 6th.
