Hello, Readers.

Patch 7.1 is nearly upon us, for some too soon, others not soon enough. The husband and I occupy opposing categories on this issue with him looking forward to new stuff, and me bemoaning the fact that I haven't even got all the 7.0 pets yet. On the other hand, FALCOSAURS!!!!!! Those little cuties are well worth five years of squee or more.

I hope you all have a good week.

LEVEL 25 TERRIBLE TURNIP EXCHANGE[/font]
October 3rd through October 31st
You’ve decided to go on safari in the Jade Forest in search of an elusive critter: a rare quality S/S-breed Leopard Tree Frog. You have plans of grandeur for this secretive little amphibian and only it will complete your new dream team. You’ve spent weeks trudging through the damp forest stalking little blue frogs, capturing them, and flipping them over to determine if each frog was the target of your hunt. Weeks later... you’ve nearly given up, and then suddenly you spot it. A rare quality S/S-breed Leopard Tree Frog. You quickly begin chipping away at the croaker’s health so that you can capture it, take it home and add it to your new frogified super team. Just then... The pet you have whittling down the tree frog gets a massive critical strike and before your very eyes, the elusive object of your animal quest is killed. Your heart sinks as you leave to pack up your camp and return to Stormwind/Orgrimmar without your super speedy blue frog.

If only you'd had the ever horrifying leveled http://www.wowhead.com/npc=63365/terrible-turnip with you when you stumbled over the pet you were after. You could have used http://www.wowhead.com/petability=826/weakening-blow and avoided slaying it and instead taken it home with you.

Enter this event to exchange your low level Terrible Turnip for a level 25 Terrible Turnip!

Wild Pet Capture Service
Above all else... A3 loves collecting pets! Collection doesn't just stop at pets that can be traded and adopted though - there are a few worlds' worth of wild pets out there waiting for collectors, too! A few of us would like to offer our love of hunting wild pets to A3 members to help them also round out their wild pet needs.

Each week (sometimes a few times each week!) we will comb zones to help members find the wild pets they are still after. We will turn a zone upside-down and inside-out looking for your pet(s) and message you once we've found them. You will then come and capture it! If you would like to take advantage of this service, but aren't available during our typical times, please don't hesitate to contact us and ask about alternative days and times.

Pet Suppliers
Do you want to help supply pets for adoption that A3 needs? We have a Pet Suppliers thread where members can sign up to sponsor certain pets they are willing to supply. When the supply of certain pets starts to run low or we have an upcoming project where we’ll need more of a certain pet – we’ll send out a notification about that pet to our suppliers! There is no guess work and no 24/7 farming because we’ll let you know when we’re in need of the pets.

There are no quotas to meet when supplying the pets that you signed up for. You can provide whatever amount you are comfortable with.

New Legion supply options were added on September 16th and new post-Legion options were added on September 26th.

For more information about the Pet Supplier project click here.

Patch 7.1 Preview: New Adventures in the Broken Isles
Beyond its new group content (like the new Karazhan Mythic dungeon and the Trial of Valor raid), World of Warcraft Patch 7.1 holds many new adventures to be discovered and undertaken on your own. Here’s a look at an assortment of activities you can enjoy in addition to your return to Karazhan.
Image
Look to Suramar

Your heroic efforts in Suramar will continue in Patch 7.1 with a new series of quests that unlock over a period of nine weeks, ultimately leading you to the very entrance of the Nighthold. You’ll delve into the story of the Nightfallen insurrection against the Nightborne and their Legion allies.
Image
If you follow the quest line to completion, you’ll be much closer to obtaining the wondrous new Arcanist’s Manasaber mount.

Look for the quest “Lockdown” to get started.

Helya’s Treachery

The ruler of Helheim is Helya, a deposed val’kyr queen who is determined to thwart the Valarjar in any way she can. Search Dalaran for the new quest, “A Call to Action”, to begin a quest line to discover the depth of Helya’s influence well beyond Tideskorn Harbor.

Your primary goal will be to unlock new Helarjar World Quests. These will then appear for you all across the Broken Isles, so you can help put a stop to Helya's infernal impact.
Image
A New Invasion

The coastline of the Broken Isles is under assault from an invasive, predatory species, and they’re breeding out of control! These new Falcosaurs drop Falcosaur Eggs and Falcosaur Feathers, reagents for new First Aid and Cooking recipes.

Save an Orphaned Falcosaur pet to begin a journey toward understanding these hungry creatures. You might just earn a unique new mount along the way.
Image
Raiding with Leashes IV

Pet Battlers rejoice! The time has finally come to delve into Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader, and Icecrown Citadel in search of new rare pets and the chance to do battle with a new Celestial foe!

Pictured here: Stardust (special encounter), Boneshard (Lord Marrowgar), G0-R41-0N Ultratonk (Mimiron), and Creeping Tentacle (Yogg-Saron).

Stardust the celestial bunny won’t come easily. To get your hands on this rapturous rabbit, you’ll have to first obtain all 16 new pets from bosses across three raid dungeons. Only that impressive act will earn you an invitation (in the mail) to take on Algalon and his legendary pets: Comet, Constellatius, and Cosmos. You must then defeat him with a team of your own in glorious battle!
Image
Something, Something, Something, Guard Dog

When he died, the second that Dr. Weavil’s heart stopped, his ultimate plan was put into motion. After adventurers looted his body, a viscous, yellow fluid slowly filled his veins, and jumper cables were implanted to shock him back to . . . life. Was this undeath? Alchemical engineering? No one is quite sure, but it left him sallow-skinned and over four times as evil as before.

What’s worse, he started an internship program.

Return to Alcaz Isle to get to the bottom of Dr. Weavil’s insidious plans, and perhaps you’ll take home a nice souvenir. These include:
  • Machine Fluid—a consumable that makes a pet or battle pet look oil-coated for 60 minutes.
Drudge Fluid—a consumable that makes a pet or battle pet look sallow for 60 minutes. Ew.
Big Red Ray—a new toy that makes your pet or battle pet look big and red for 15 seconds.
Electrified Key—allows Hunters to activate one of three Arachnodrone mechanical spiders.
The spiders are tameable. You just have to get to them.

Getting there won’t be easy. Dr. Weavil kind of went nuts and covered Alcaz Isle with anti-aircraft artillery (so you can’t fly), proximity mines (so you can’t run in a straight line), and defensive turrets (so you can’t think straight). Make it past those and you’ll still have to overcome his interns: Drudge Gnomes who mindlessly work for the little big guy.

And then there’s Dr. Weavil himself—just waiting for you in his compound, which probably has a guard dog.

It has a guard dog.

Hotfixes: October 19
Here you'll find a list of hotfixes that address various issues related to World of Warcraft: Legion. Some of the hotfixes below take effect the moment they were implemented, while others may require scheduled realm restarts to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch update. This list will be updated as additional hotfixes are applied.

Additional information about the expansion can be found below.

October 19

Hotfixes

Classes

Demon Hunter

Demon Hunters should now receive a cache (or mount when lucky) from Pandaria world bosses who previously had no items for Demon Hunters.

Paladin

Blessing of Sanctuary now has a 30 second cooldown.

Dungeons and Raids

Emerald Nightmare

Cenarius

Damage immunity such as Divine Shield or Blessing of Protection now prevents damage dealt by Spear of Nightmares.

Il’gynoth

Rogues will no longer end up inside Il’gynoth’s core when attacking it with Shadowstrike or Killing Spree.

Items

The effects from Jewelcrafting neck pieces should now scale properly when Timewalking.

Professions

Archaeology

It should now be easier to obtain Jewels of Aellis for the quest "Sifting Through the Rubble". Angry Highborne Spirits should now have a 100% chance to drop a jewel.

PvP

Warden Tower captains no longer have a limit on the number of eligible players who can simultaneously tap them.

Quests

Alliance players are now able to complete "Full Circle" in Vashj'ir.

October 13

Hotfixes

Bonus Events

Entering a Timewalking Dungeon will no longer clear any planted plants from the Druid Evergreen upgrade.
The fireballs from the cooking buff "Pepper Breath" should now scale properly in Timewalking.
Class Hall Set 6-piece and 8-piece bonuses should now scale properly in Timewalking.

Classes

Druid

Ironfur no longer incorrectly multiplies Bonus Armor effects from temporary buffs.
(Balance) New Moon, Half Moon, and Full Moon are now in the Arcane spell school.

Items

Spirit Cauldrons no longer have collision.

Player versus Player

Reminder: These changes are only active while in PvP combat situations and do not affect PvE. Many more Honor Talent changes are coming with Patch 7.1, including changes to Destruction Warlocks, Windwalker Monks, Death Knights, Balance Druids, and Restoration Druids.

Mage

Frost

Ice Form now has a 60 second cooldown (was 45 seconds).
Ice Form can no longer be cast while stunned.
Ice Form will now cause the Mage to be immune to only stuns, instead of other unintended crowd-control effects, such as Paralysis.
Frostbolt no longer deals increased damage in PvP (was a multiplier of +10%).
Developers’ Notes: Frost Mages are intended to create burst windows with Shatter and Glacial Spike, but have been reaching unintended levels of damage. By reducing Frostbolt damage, we’re reducing the potential size of Icicles and Glacial Spike burst. The Ice Form fixes should reduce its uptime, which was too high.

Hunter

Beast Mastery

Beast Mastery Agility reduced by 10% in PvP.
Developers’ Notes: We’ve found Beast Mastery damage to be too high, but we don’t feel that it’s due to any specific ability or mechanic, so we’re reducing the overall PvP template.

Monk

Mistweaver

Mistwalk can no longer be cast while silenced.

Soothing Mist healing reduced by 10% in PvP. (Soothing Mist version of Ancient Mistweaver Arts is unaffected.)
Soothing Mist healing cast by Summon Jade Serpent Statue reduced by 10% in PvP.
Developers’ Notes: Mistweavers been one of our strongest healers. We feel Soothing Mist is doing too much healing per second on its own, making it so that the Mistweaver doesn’t have to use cast-time healing spells as much as other healers, even when their target is taking high amounts of damage. We’re reducing Soothing Mist slightly to address this. Mistwalk was never intended to be used while the Mistweaver was silenced or locked out of Nature, so we’ve fixed that as a bug.

Paladin

Pure of Heart no longer causes Cleanse to incur a cooldown when it removes poisons and diseases.
Pure of Heart no longer triggers when healed by a periodic heal effect, but will trigger when a spell such as Rejuvenation is initially cast.
Developers’ Notes: Retribution Paladins are designed to be a formidable damage dealer and also have a protective, counter-control kit for their allies. Pure of Heart is intended to “soft-counter” poisons and diseases, but we feel it’s too strong currently when the Paladin is paired with a healing-over-time healer. Pure of Heart will now only trigger when a healing spell is applied, but not periodically during the spell.

Retribution

Blessing of Sanctuary now has a 30 second cooldown, up from 25 seconds.
Developers’ Notes: Blessing of Sanctuary has proven to be a strong, signature Honor Talent, but we feel its cooldown is too short.

Rogue

Assassination

System Shock now properly requires an Envenom cast with 5 or more combo points.
System Shock’s damage has been reduced by 20%.
Assassination’s Agility has been reduced by 5% in PvP.
Developers’ Notes: The Assassination Rogue is intended to be a strong, persistent damage dealer that pressures targets but lacks the utility that Outlaw excels in or the mobility that Subtlety provides. We’ve been monitoring their damage and feel its higher than intended, and we’ve found some bugs with System Shock contributed to this. We’ve also altered their PvP template to effectively reduce their damage.

Outlaw

Control is King will no longer stack Adrenaline Rush above a 3 second duration.
Developers’ Notes: Control is King is intended to be an attractive choice for the Outlaw Rogue when within a control oriented team composition. This has worked out a bit too well. Now, subsequent procs of Control of King will no longer add to the duration, and instead will just refresh itself.

Shaman

Enhancement

Stormstrike’s damage is reduced by 15% in PvP.
Heroism and Bloodlust now have a 60 second cooldown when modified by Shamanism (was 45 seconds).
Developers’ Notes: The Enhancement Shaman is intended to be a formidable damage dealer who also provides offensive group utility through totems and buffs. Shamanism has been a popular choice for the Enhancement Shaman, allowing them to use Bloodlust/Heroism frequently and also in Arena combat. We like the utility this gives the Shaman, but feel its uptime is too high. Further, we feel the Enhancement Shaman’s burst damage with Stormstrike has been reaching unintended levels.

October 12

Hotfixes

Class Halls

General and LocalDefense chat channels are now functioning properly in the Shaman Class Hall.

Dungeons and Raids

In Mythic Keystone dungeons, Shadow Priests who die due to Surrender to Madness expiring should no longer incur a 5 second time penalty.
Emerald Nightmare
Heart of Corruption
On Mythic difficulty, the Corruptor Tentacle that previously spawned at 225 seconds into the fight now spawns at 235 seconds, and the Deathglare Tentacle that previously spawned at 240 seconds into the fight now spawns at 250 seconds.

Items

Items rewarded from emissary bags now more closely match the quality of World Quest rewards.
The Spear of Rethu polearm now scales properly from character level 1 to 100, now properly appears in the heirloom list, and is now correctly a 2-handed weapon.

Quests

Oculeth no longer disappears after completing the quest "Arcan'dor, Gift of the Ancient Magi."

October 6

Hotfixes

Classes

Warlock

(Destruction) Dimensional Rift will no longer spawn portals that are out of range to do damage to your target.

Mythic Keystone Dungeons

The amount of Artifact Power rewarded from end-of-run Mythic Keystone chests now increases with the Level of the Mythic Keystone Dungeon.
When beating a Mythic Keystone timer by a margin so significant that your Keystone is upgraded by more than one step, you will earn multiple loot chests as before, however, the additional chests beyond the first will no longer contain Artifact Power.
Developers’ Notes: These changes are aimed at aligning the efficiency of the different tiers of difficulty, so that a well-geared group of dungeon experts is rewarded more for tackling a high-level Mythic dungeon, rather than incentivized to stomp an entry-level dungeon.

Items

The Archaeology World Quest heirloom reward Spear of Rethu should now be item level 700, as intended (was item level 605).

October 5

Hotfixes

Classes

Druid

Moonkin Aura can no longer stack on targets.
Paladin
Steed of Glory now properly makes the Paladin immune to stun effects.
Shaman
Spirit Link Totem should no longer be damaged by Druids’ Rage of the Sleeper or Brambles.
Warrior
(Protection) Fixed a bug where Vengeance could cause Ignore Pain to consume less Rage than intended, but absorb for more.

Class Halls

The cooldown for all Class Hall abilities which allow you to instantly complete a World Quest has been reduced from 3 days to 18 hours, and the time taken to complete the work order for the item used by these abilities has been reduced to 10 minutes.
Fixed an issue that sometimes hid the barrier blocking the Feralas Portal in the Emerald Dreamway for Druids who have previously sealed it.
Priest dungeon quests from missions will now be turned in to Moira Thaurissan, rather than Alonus Faol, who sometimes has other things to do.

Dungeons and Raids

The Arcway

Forgotten Spirits will no longer respawn in The Arcway.
Timeless Wraiths will no longer attack players before they've been Banished In Time.
Halls of Valor
When Olmyr the Enlightened or Solsten are engaged, the door to Hyrja's room will shut while they are in combat.

PvP

Druid

Fury of Elune can no longer be cast during Arena and Battleground preparation.
Demon Hunter
Demon Hunters now start arenas with 0 Pain and Fury.
Rogue
Shadowy Duel now prevents you from assaulting bases in Domination battlegrounds such as Arathi Basin.
Shaman
Fury of Air can no longer be cast during Arena and Battleground preparation.

Quests

High-level players should now be eligible for the "Trial of Faith" scenario during the Garrison Campaign.
In the Withered Army Training scenario, it should be less likely for Leystalker Dro to be hiding somewhere that he wouldn't normally be encountered by clearing the room.
Enigmatic puzzles should no longer become non-responsive when a large number of players try to do the same Enigmatic World Quest puzzle.

October 3

Hotfixes

Classes

Mage

Splitting Ice should now cause Glacial Spike to damage the secondary target for 80% of the damage dealt to the primary target, as intended.
Monk
Stagger now delays 40% of damage taken (was 35%), and now quickly fades after leaving combat.
Shaman
(Restoration) The Artifact trait Tidal Pools will now correctly heal all areas when multiple Tidal Pools are active at once.
Warlock
Shadowflame's damage over time can now critically strike.
Warrior
Shield Slam now generates 20 Rage (was 10).
Ignore Pain’s maximum absorption has been reduced by 33%.
Inspiring Presence no longer stacks on players who have multiple Warriors present.

Dungeons and Raids

(All dungeon and raid hotfixes will take effect with realm restarts in each region.)

Black Rook Hold
Mythic Keystone target time increased to 38 minutes (was 35 minutes).
Eye of Azshara
Mythic Keystone target time decreased to 35 minutes (was 36 minutes).
Maw of Souls
Mythic Keystone target time decreased to 24 minutes (was 25 minutes).
Neltharion’s Lair
Mythic Keystone target time decreased to 33 minutes (was 35 minutes).
Emerald Nightmare
Vantus Runes can now be used in Mythic Emerald Nightmare.
Il’gynoth
On Mythic difficulty, Il’gynoth’s health has been increased by 200%, but loses one-third of that value each time the Eye of Il’gynoth is defeated.
On Mythic difficulty, each Nightmare Explosion now deals 20% more damage to the Eye of Il’gynoth.
Developers’ Notes: A common strategy for Mythic Il’gynoth involved using raid compositions that focus on maximizing burst damage to complete the encounter in a single phase. This approach removes huge portions of the encounter and can overly favor a specific set of classes and specializations, causing negative social pressures in groups that have yet to reach this encounter. These changes ensure that raid groups must enter Il’gynoth’s core twice in order to complete the encounter on Mythic difficulty, but offset that change by speeding up the process of destroying the Eye to shorten the overall length of the encounter.

Professions

Enchanting

Crafted items that upgrade to epic quality should now disenchant into Leylight Shards or Chaos Crystals.

PvP

Shaman Totems will no longer take unintended extra damage from players.

Quests

Players are now able to turn in "Ritual Ruination" to Calydus in Dreadscar Rift if they don’t take the portal out of the scenario.

Post/Dungeon Preview — A Return to Karazhan
From the moment of its mysterious creation, the purpose of this dark tower has been intertwined with the history of the Guardians of Tirisfal, once Azeroth’s greatest bulwark against the Legion. It is now best known as the home of Medivh, who tragically betrayed Azeroth and brought the unbroken chain of Guardians to an end. This legacy makes Karazhan a place of particular interest for the Legion, who have descended in full force in an effort to open a new front in their war on the denizens of Azeroth.
https://youtu.be/LSMPuOHTtMI It’s been some time since the heroes of Azeroth have been called into the halls of Karazhan to do battle with the evils within, but a return was inevitable with so many secrets left undiscovered.
Image
A Return to Karazhan
Return to Karazhan in Legion will provide a new 5-player experience for those who are familiar with the Burning Crusade10- player Raid dungeon. Once the seat of power of Medivh, the last Guardian of Tirisfal, each stone and stair is imbued with untold power. It is this power that has lured the Burning Legion into its halls and Medivh’s servant, Moroes has been happy to throw open the doors in the hope that his master will be returning soon.

Inside the tower, players will discover a variety of new challenges to face from both familiar and new bosses to fight along with a few new tales to experience within the infamous Opera Hall. But, before you can waltz through the doors, you’ll need to complete an attunement by working with Khadgar to thwart Gul’dan’s latest plans.

Gul’dan’s been sending secret orders to high-ranking demons found within the darkest recesses of the Broken Isles and Khadgar is going to need you to intercept them. But this is just the start of your adventure. You’ll need to face down the God-King Skovald within Mythic Halls of Valor along with three more of Gul’dan’s demons. With all the clues at hand, Khadgar will learn a deadly truth that will send adventurers into the haunted tower of Kharazhan. Facing a gauntlet of enemies old and new, only the most seasoned heroes have any hope to survive and foil the Legion's plan.

This is a large dungeon with a raid-like feel in which players will want to revisit as they work their way through. To allow time to do this, the dungeon will have a 1-week lockout timer which will provide players the time they need to work their way through and claim their new loot.

Developer Insights: As a development team, whenever we’ve discussed updating or revisiting legacy content over the years, Karazhan has been in the forefront of those conversations, but there had never been any clear connection to the current expansion until now. Given the history of the Guardian’s tower, it felt like a natural fit for the Legion’s interest, as well as giving us a chance to offer a 5-player dungeon experience on a scale not seen since Blackrock Depths. In approaching Return to Karazhan, we wanted to offer equal parts nostalgia and surprise. The lower portions of the tower are preserved largely as they were in 2007, though the spawning and boss encounter mechanics have been entirely revamped. But once players ascend past the Curator’s doorway and enter the library, things become… different. Within a sorcerer’s tower, reliable rules such as gravity and spatial proportion don’t always apply. And who knows what secrets such a place may hold?

Minimum Level: 110
Location: Deadwind Pass
Bosses: 8
Difficulty: Mythic

Maiden of Virtue: Arriving in Karazhan to cleanse the tower of vice and corruption, the titan watcher was infuriated by Medivh’s infamous parties and debaucheries. As her crusade for virtue seeks converts to her cause, the Maiden remains committed to purging immorality using all the powers at her disposal.

Opera Hall: Wikket: Are villains born evil, or do they fall into wickedness due to the influence of others? Perhaps considering this quandary from the ozen point of view will offer enlightenment…

Opera Hall: Westfall Story: Amidst the carnage of rival gangs battling for the turf of Westfall, two lovers from very different worlds fight for happiness. It is said that love is blind… but does it also need a translator?

Opera Hall: Beautiful Beast: Cursed to take the form of a beastly monster, Brute must find true love before he loses his life to the dark magic that transformed him. Will he learn proper table manners in time to win the heart of the fair Bella?
Image
Attumen the Huntsman: Once charged with hunting game for his master’s feasts, Attumen now sets his sights on a very different kind of quarry. Ever wary of those seeking to steal his famed steed, Midnight, Attumen unleashes his well-honed fighting skills against all intruders.

Moroes: Moroes, the steward of Karazhan, dotes upon his master’s dinner guests within the grand Banquet Hall. Eternally devoted to care of the tower, he dispatches impolite party crashers with cruel efficiency.
Image
The Curator: The Curator safeguards the Menagerie from unwelcome guests, terminating trespassers who seek to plunder the secrets of Karazhan. Though assembled by Medivh himself, the guardian construct has deteriorated over time, becoming prone to energy overloads and erratic behavior.

Shade of Medivh: So great was the power of the last Guardian, Medivh, that his magic still echoes through the halls of Karazhan. Some of these echoes take the shape of visions, revealing past events to the tower’s guests. Others assume more malevolent forms, recalling a time when the Guardian’s will was not his own.

Mana Devourer: Rarely does the sight of a mana wyrm cause a seasoned adventurer concern. These small, simple creatures float about, consuming stray pockets of arcane energy. But in Karazhan, tables are often turned, and what at first glance appears harmless may be revealed as an enormous threat.
Image
Viz’aduum the Watcher: The all-seeing Viz’aduum was commanded by Kil’jaeden to capture Karazhan and tap into the tendrils of ley energy woven through the tower. Should he succeed in anchoring the structure to the myriad of worlds held by the Legion, the Dark Titan’s army will overrun Azeroth and leave little more than a smoldering husk.

We look forward to seeing you within the halls of Karazhan once more.

PvP Rewards in Patch 7.1
With Patch 7.1: Return to Karazhan arriving on October 25, we wanted to share some updates on PvP rewards from Battlegrounds, Skirmishes, Arenas, and Rated Battlegrounds. Like many of the players we’ve heard from over the last few weeks, we’ve identified areas where PvP rewards could be more satisfying. Along the way, we made a few changes through hotfixes, but we can do much more in a full content patch.

Artifact Power

Soon after players began exploring the Broken Isles, we recognized the incredible impact that Artifact Power has as a reward mechanism. While PvP already rewards Artifact Power, it isn't clear how much Artifact Power you might get from doing a particular PvP activity, which might have made some players reluctant to participate. To address that, Artifact Power rewards have been increased for PvP in Patch 7.1, and the user interface will now show you exactly how much you'll receive for a victory.

First Victory of the Day Bonus

The Honor reward for your first Random Battleground victory of the day has always been twice that of subsequent victories. In Patch 7.1, we've extended that bonus to all of the other brackets in PvP: Skirmishes, 2v2 Arenas, 3v3 Arenas, and Rated Battlegrounds. Furthermore, in addition to bonus Honor, your first victory of the day will also reward a large Artifact Power bonus. This means big rewards for players who participate in a variety of PvP formats each day.

Here are examples of Honor and Artifact Power rewards for each bracket, including first-of-the-day bonus rewards:

[col3]Activity
Skirmish Win (First of the Day)

Gear from PvP

While the impact of gear in Battlegrounds and Arenas in Legion is different from past expansions, we still believe it’s important for endgame activities to reward items. In Patch 7.1, every Battleground or Rated Battleground victory will reward a piece of gear. Losses will also have a chance to reward gear based on the final score of the match, and Skirmish and Arena victories will have an increased chance to drop gear. This gear will has a chance to roll up with the possible bonuses you’re used to, including Warforged, Titanforged, socketed, and with tertiary stats.

Our initial approach for Legion has been to have the item level of gear rewards from PvP increase with your Honor Level. However, the way this works hasn’t been obvious to players, and it resulted in the unfortunate circumstance where some players tried out PvP only after gearing up elsewhere—and were disappointed by the PvP rewards. In Patch 7.1, we've transitioned PvP gear rewards to more closely mirror the type of item level progression you see from World Quests. This means PvP should feel as rewarding as other parts of the game that offer high replay value.

Weekly Bonus Gear from Rated PvP

Previously, your first victory in each rated bracket of PvP (2v2, 3v3, Rated Battlegrounds) rewarded a piece of gear based on your current PvP rating. This wasn’t ideal. Often, players didn’t know what item level reward gear would offer before participating. Winning a single game represents a fairly insignificant amount of effort for a piece of high item level gear, especially considering this gear has the potential to rival the best items from raids or Mythic Keystone dungeons. The decision to use your current PvP rating also discouraged players from doing anything that might result in their rating going down. For example, if you've just had an amazing run in Arenas, you may decide to stop trying to improve your rating, or you might be reluctant to put your rating on the line with a less-skilled friend who just logged in.

In Patch 7.1, each bracket of rated PvP (2v2, 3v3, Rated Battlegrounds) has a weekly quest that rewards items based on your best rating from the previous week. The quests for Arena brackets will require 10 wins, and the quests for the Rated Battleground bracket require three wins. Below a rating of 2000, these quests will always reward a piece of gear with the current season's Gladiator appearance. Above 2000 rating, these quests will always reward a piece of gear with the current season's Elite appearance. Again, you’ll always see the item level of the gear you’ll receive in the tooltip of the weekly quest.

Here is an example listing of the rating-to-item level breakdown for Season 1:
[col3]Last Week's Rating
0 - 1399
1400 - 1599

We hope you'll find all of this information useful as we head into Patch 7.1: Return to Karazhan. We want PvP to be a compelling activity for all World of Warcraft players, and we want to make sure it rewards those who commit extra time and effort to the competitive side of the game.

Connecting A3ers through Discord
[col]ImageA3 is always looking for new and interesting ways to connect with its members. One of our greatest hurdles, though, is connecting members to each other. With everyone playing on different servers, different factions, and the limitations of the friends list – many of you have probably never had a chance to connect. We hope to use the Discord App to help solve that!

The major perk of an app like Discord is that communication is live. Meaning – you can see it on the fly (assuming you are logged in). This will be an advantage over the forum or twitter where you need to check in throughout the day. It will be especially helpful with organizing groups, sharing rare spawn information with others, or just getting to know your fellow A3ers!|[/col]

Hubs pre-ordered the cookbook, which arrived last Tuesday. It's seriously well-done and there are some recipes that we're using for our Halloween party. Others, we're considering for Thanksgiving.
