Newsletter July 24: Spotlight On Xu-Fu!

Post by piwakawaka » July 25th, 2017, 2:13 am

July 2017
Year 3, Issue 29

Hello, Readers.

For those who aren't yet familiar with it, there is an amazing Pet Battle Strategy website, Xu-Fu's Pet Guides. Up until now it has been something of a bible for those of us wanting solid PvE Pet Battle Strategies without having to put the work in ourselves.

Two weeks ago the Xu-Fu website announced two tools to be hosted on their website. Magpie, an auction house scanner that allows you to search for deals on pets you are missing, was imported from its previous host. Alongside this move however, a pet collection viewer was also launched.

This is big news because the recently updated World of Warcraft Armory took away our ability to use a basic search function in order to easily find our pets.

It's more than just a quick way to sneakily find out if your friend has that one pet though. Pie charts inform you about the ratio of collected to uncollected pets in a collection, as well as a breakdown of the quality of the pets you own, and the family make up of your collection.

Clicking on a segment of any of these charts will bring up the names of the pets that make up the segment.

Below the pie charts is a bar graph capable of displaying the quality and family breakdowns if you prefer bar graphs to pie charts. Its default, however, is set to show a level breakdown of your collection.

On the pet list itself are various filters that allow you to search for duplicates, specific breeds and even tradable pets.

One of the big upsides to this new tool is you don't need to create an account in order to upload your collection. When you do upload a collection it's assigned a number, so you can easily revisit your collection through a bookmark. Each time you revisit your collection it will reload the information from the armory so you don't need to actively update the collection unless you're very busy.

I hope you all have a good week.

Earlier this month Sandwalker prepared an American-themed Crossword Puzzle to help A3ers celebrate the 4th of July. We're a little late getting it out, but we thought it would still be fun for everyone to participate in! Solving this crossword could win you 1 of 5 http://www.wowhead.com/item=23767/crash ... shin-robot toys or a http://www.wowhead.com/npc=87669/hatespark-the-tiny pet!

To participate you will need to request a crossword puzzle. Crosswords are provided through OneDrive links so you can work on them in your browser without having to download any special programs. Once you complete your crossword you will let us know you have done so, as well as let us know which of the prizes you are interested in winning.

At the end of the event members who correctly fill in 25 out of 34 answers will be entered to win the prizes. Prize winners will be randomly drawn.

Wild Pet Capture Service
Above all else... A3 loves collecting pets! Collection doesn't just stop at pets that can be traded and adopted though - there are a few worlds' worth of wild pets out there waiting for collectors, too! A few of us would like to offer our love of hunting wild pets to A3 members to help them also round out their wild pet needs.

Each week (sometimes a few times each week!) we will comb zones to help members find the wild pets they are still after. We will turn a zone upside-down and inside-out looking for your pet(s) and message you once we've found them. You will then come and capture it! If you would like to take advantage of this service, but aren't available during our typical times, please don't hesitate to contact us and ask about alternative days and times.

Specifications Allowed

✔ Both Factions
✔ All Zones
✔ All Pets
✔ Any Quality
✔ Any Breed
✔ Any Specifics (color, size, etc.)

Pet Suppliers
Do you want to help supply pets for adoption that A3 needs? We have a Pet Suppliers thread where members can sign up to sponsor certain pets they are willing to supply. When the supply of certain pets starts to run low or we have an upcoming project where we’ll need more of a certain pet – we’ll send out a notification about that pet to our suppliers! There is no guess work and no 24/7 farming because we’ll let you know when we’re in need of the pets.

There are no quotas to meet when supplying the pets that you signed up for. You can provide whatever amount you are comfortable with.

New supply options were recently added! New options include common vendor and non-Legion pets.

There are 100's of supply options available, but below you will find the newest options added to the supply request sign-up sheet. These options are especially in need of suppliers right now.

Please note that the sign-up sheet is organized according to which expansion each pet was introduced in, not the expansion "zone" that they are found in.

  •   Don't forget to keep your WarcraftPets account up to date. You can find a guide on how to do this here.

Please remember to check what pets you have before submitting requests! Add-ons don't always display things accurately.

Please remember to report your request list if you acquire a pet you have requested. We've modified our system so that even if your post has already been flagged you can still report and make changes.

WoW® Arena North American Championship Finals Announced!
For Arena teams across North America, the competition is about to come to a head!

The World of Warcraft Arena North American Championship finals will be held at the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio, September 7-10. The top 12 teams from North America will be invited to compete, based on hard-earned points amassed during the tournament. Click HERE to read more and see the point standings.
Tips for class campaigns and unlocking followers
Generally speaking if there is a quest available that is important you'll usually see it on your map. It will show up as an exclamation point indicating that there is a quest waiting for you.

When it comes to the Class Order Hall this can get a little tricky because sometimes the NPC you need to talk to is also the one that you are sending off on missions.

If you have run out of quests it is usually a good idea to check where you are with your Class Order Hall. If you don't have all of the Champions yet, it means you have several quests out there left to do before those other quests will become available for you.

Sites like Icy-veins and wowhead have some pretty good resources to help you determine where you are.

Hotfixes: July 20
HERE Here you'll find a list of hotfixes that address various issues related to World of Warcraft: Legion. Some of the hotfixes below take effect the moment they were implemented, while others may require scheduled realm restarts to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch update. This list will be updated as additional hotfixes are applied.

Social Media
Facebook Group
  • Join us on Facebook! The A3 Facebook group is the perfect place to socialize with your fellow A3ers. Post and share anything you like here, WoW-related or otherwise. Please remember to keep it reasonably clean!
  • Follow us on Twitter! Twitter is our main social media resource. It is to post info about events, giveaways, and updates. We share and retweet posts from our members as well. We LOVE to see your achievements, new pets, screenshots and selfies! If you would like to see your WoW-related activities included in a future newsletter you can tag us in your World of Warcraft-related tweets so we can share them with the community! @A3pets.

Connecting A3ers through Discord
A3 is always looking for new and interesting ways to connect with its members. One of our greatest hurdles, though, is connecting members to each other. With everyone playing on different servers, different factions, and the limitations of the friends list – many of you have probably never had a chance to connect. We hope to use the Discord App to help solve that!

The major perk of an app like Discord is that communication is live. Meaning – you can see it on the fly (assuming you are logged in). This will be an advantage over the forum or twitter where you need to check in throughout the day. It will be especially helpful with organizing groups, sharing rare spawn information with others, or just getting to know your fellow A3ers!
Official A3 Hashtags

Did you earn a new achievement or reach a new milestone? Mark it with #A3achieve and it will be included in a future newsletter!

Snapped a new screenshot/selfie you want to share? Mark it with #A3pix and it will be featured in a future newsletter!

Have you ever said something that would sound hilarious, bizarre, or even insane out of context of pet collecting? Share it with us!

Help Support A3
Did you know that A3 has bills? It’s true! A3 has monthly and yearly bills related to the cost of operating the Agency. We earn some funds from ads on the site but most of A3’s operating costs are paid out of pocket.

Operating costs are the costs required to run the community – these do not include the costs of sponsoring giveaways. A3 is a volunteer operated project and we need the help of our members to keep the site online.
Currently, less than 4% of our members have contributed to assist with operating costs. Fewer than 1% of our members have contributed more than once.

A few spare dollars here and there can go a long way! Donations are accepted through PayPal and Patreon.

For more information about donating financially please visit our Supporter's Page.
