Re: Looking For Farmers: Midsummer Fire Festival Pets
I hope to be farming Ahune on all my eligible characters as much as possible.
An alt leveling tip: fly your alts around that aren't level capped to get the fires. You get a lot of XP in the process and then you'll get plenty of blossoms as well!

I found that a trip around Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Northrend and then Pandaria yielded over 700 blossoms - enough for 2 pets! ...and 2 levels on my lvl 97 (with the potion of Acclerated Learning)!

That stupid ice chip has eluded me for 4 years. I am killing that fool three times a day. If I get an extra chip I will end it A3's way.

It's GREAT xp at lower levels. I took my WCP toon out at lv 47 and finished at lv 52 with Kalimdor and EK (I had heirlooms, but no potion), and then the bonus xp from the fire ribbon and a single dungeon queue got me another level, and I still have some rested xp left.

My monk has gone from level 61 - 64 while getting all the eastern kingdoms and kalimdor. This fire festival might let me skip BC content completely!

I'm doing the full run on at least 4, maybe 5 if I get her high enough before the end, and will see how many pets i'm willing to part with, but I just want to ask why this isn't a donation drive?

Re: Looking For Farmers: Midsummer Fire Festival Pets
Our last few donations drives have seen pretty low participation, especially with the bigger pets like this. As such it seems the interest in them has dropped and/or we just can't provide decent enough rewards to tempt folks into participating/helping. Instead for some events, we'll just be doing a Call to Arms like thing from now on. We have shied away from donation drives and moved to things like the supply requests for other things as well (for example - the Darkmoon Faire).tinibree wrote:I'm doing the full run on at least 4, maybe 5 if I get her high enough before the end, and will see how many pets i'm willing to part with, but I just want to ask why this isn't a donation drive?
We could probably fund larger rewards, but with the lack of participation, the tier for it would likely not be unlocked. I also don't want someone funding a big pet out of pocket when the take from the donation drive would be very small.
There will be other events with donation drives in the future, though likely with some changes, but we're being a bit more selective of the when and where.
I hope this made sense!

Thanks,
Waka

Yeah I figured that was why but wanted to ask anyway, it's not the prizes that are the problem, it's just the ability to get some of the pets. I forget what ones was recently that I was like 'but that's so hard to get' but I think it's also the end of expansion less people playing thing. Consider giving some another try when we're in the middle of LegionWakamaru wrote:Our last few donations drives have seen pretty low participation, especially with the bigger pets like this. The faire specifically is just too often, and you can't get enough tickets in one go for a pet (I think?) I think if you tried to do one maybe every 3 or 4 months or something like that it might help.

I do think part of it is the end of the expansion, but also since we're heading toward A3 being a year and a half old we've given out so many of the pets currently available that folks just don't need what there is to currently offer. This is, of course, a wonderful since it means we're doing our job and members are also having luck collecting on their own. It's a bit of a double-edged blade!

For the Faire, we did actually move down to once every other month and then down to once every 3 months. It's a challenge to get many pets in one session like you said, so we thought we'd give more time for collection. However... after the longer period, I think we still wound up with only 3 contributed pets for the every other month trial and then 4 for the every three months trial . 3 to 4 pets on their own are wonderful, but it defeats the concept of the donation drive. As such we moved the DMF to the supply request system and it's actually been working very nicely.
The perk of the supply request system is that we can be very specific about what we do and don't need and then we wind up with a couple of the ones we do need after it's all said and done.
Like you said, though, the larger pets are a challenge. For drives such as our Dino Donation Drive, Children's Week, Love is in the Air, and so on - we continue to use drives because these are easier to obtain pets and therefore more people are able to consistently participate. This is the planned approach going forward, at this time at least. The more difficult pets we'll post Call to Arms seeking assistance for, and the more player-friendly ones we'll use the donation drive method for. This seems to be working well for the moment at least.
We're always evolving with the times, though, so expect to see change and new ideas in the future!
Thanks,
Waka
