Happy 1st Anniversary!
This month marks Azeroth Adoption Agency’s one-year anniversary! So to say thanks to all of you, here are some messages from our staff members.
This entire ride has been amazing. I never thought it would turn into something this big. I started off with the goal to find homes for my unwanted pets and in the process I have met some extraordinary people made some amazing friends. Seeing the pet collecting community pull together and be so giving with their pets and forging friendships within the Agency, it’s made every bump and hurdle worth it.
Thank you to all the members who have been supportive of the Agency and our staff. For looking out for one another and showing everyone that while the WoW community can be a bit harsh and frightening, that there are people out there that enjoy something and make it a comfortable and inviting place to be. You have all changed my outlook on this game.
Here’s looking to another year of friendships and pets!
When A3 first started I was one of the first donors. The joy and excitement of collecting pets was never limited to my own collection so I was thrilled to have another way of helping other collector’s with their collections. As the supply of donated pets increased my role with the agency turned into charter-signer for Rusti as I had four recruit-a-friend accounts handy at that time.
As the agency picked up new donors and helped more members it grew little by little over the next few months and so did my friendship with Rusti. The agency became slammed with traffic in March and prospective members were behaving horribly and mistreating her I was in a rush to find some way to help. After a week or two of letting Rusti know that I was available to assist with anything and simultaneously watching and listening to her drown under the pressure of truly ungrateful people I decided I was going to jump I and help uninvited. Whether she didn’t want my help or she didn’t know how/where to tell me to help didn’t matter – she needed it to make this project survive. I quickly made myself useful with getting people in line and creating order out of the mess that had been made by the unexpected influx of traffic.
Ultimately we decided to close the doors and halt all adoptions for 1 week to get things reordered and put a better system in place. After spending tireless hours around the clock each day over the next week we succeeded and reopened the doors with a system that would benefit everyone fairly and allow the agency to grow without further complication. The agency progressed and so did our friendship.
Right after this we began picking up team members. We have had our fair share of bumps in the road with staffing but inevitably this made life easier for everyone and helped the new system flow much more seamlessly. Most of our original team came from early members who wanted to help after witnessing how people behaved when things got hectic. Through their support the agency grew yet again and Rusti and I had the privilege of forging more friendships with these amazing people.
Come the end of April those rough days had pretty much passed. Rude, greedy, and ungrateful types had been filtered out through basic rules and our generous, helpful, kind, and patient members received more attention. It was at this time that I decided to start creating events that would award members with rarer pets through simple interaction with us and one another. These provided fun and popular which allowed the agency to grow even further.
Six months later things are still running wonderfully thanks to the hard work and cooperation of the admins, the team, and the members. Each time a selfless act is contributed to the agency – be it through help, kind words and support, donations, and so on – the agency grows a little more. With such a wonderful community and lasting bonds here I cannot wait to see what we grow into over the next year.
I first joined A3 in its infancy. It had been going maybe a month or so, and I wanted to see if I could gain any pets that would otherwise have taken a long grind to get. Inevitably I ended up adopting very few pets due to the size of my collection.
When the staff positions were first being advertised, I saw an awesome opportunity. Because I love nothing better than to help people collect, I saw a reason to push myself out of my comfort zone and get myself interacting with other people. The desire to help Rusti and Waka gain some control over the spiralling growth of A3 helped immensely as well.
Never could I have imagined that not only would I find a place I could feel so comfortable in, but I would also make some amazing friends along the way.
Because of A3 I also found the motivation to accomplish several of the more tedious tasks on my to-do list (Argent Tournament). Having the external accountability can make for brilliant motivation sometimes.
I want to thank my fellow staff members and especially Waka and Rusti, not only for being amazing people and my friends, but also for giving me a reason to push out of my shell. I have treasured my time working on A3, and I look forward to what comes up over the next year.
For Pets, and all the awesome shiny!
I just wanted to take a moment to say how grateful I am to be a part of this amazing community!
I wasn’t here right at the beginning, but I joined up right after the WarcraftPets.com article. And I must say, this community is such a great thing to be a part of. Right from the start I knew I wanted to help out behind the scenes. I’d like to thank Rusti and Wakamaru for allowing me the opportunity to do just that. I truly love being a part of this!
But most importantly, I want to thank all of our wonderful members for being the generous, positive, happy people that they all are.
Happy 1st Anniversary Azeroth Adoption Agency! Here’s to many more years.
About a year ago, I came back to WoW from a little hiatus. But, for the first time in 9 years I came back without my husband playing with me. At first, I didn’t know what to do with myself, and then I realized that I was finally free to do whatever I wanted in game! I knew I didn’t want to raid anymore, because I had always found that too stressful. I started getting into pet battles, because it was something I always wanted to try, but that my husband was not interested in. I loved collecting pets and I started looking for more and more to collect, both wild and on the AH. I signed up for warcraftpets and just by chance I saw the post about A3 on the forum.
It seemed like it was too good to be true – pets for free? But, I thought, if this is real, then these are some amazing people doing this and I have to be a part of it too!
Since then, A3 has become an important part of my life
, a part that I really look forward to every day. It has become more than just a part of a game to me, and honestly I think it is the reason that I am still playing WoW. Being a part of an amazing community of people who all love pets and are all rooting for eachother to build their pet collections and earn achievements is a really great feeling! Rusti and Waka, and the whole team put a lot of effort into running things smoothly and creating fun events for everyone to participate in. I have had a lot of fun with the whole experience, and I feel very honoured to be a part of this wonderful team.
All I can say is thank you to Rusti and Waka, because you two are the reason A3 exists. Lastly, the team has been so amazing and kind to my daughter, Starfire, and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for that!
I found A3 back in March when Warcraft Pets highlighted the agency. I jumped at the chance to get some pets that I was missing, and I was excited at the chance to give some of my extras to someone else who needed them. It didn’t take long to see that I was a part of something special. It was clear that Rusti and Waka had a lot on their plate, so I couldn’t wait to help out when the opportunity arose.
I’ve met some amazing people and made some great friends here. I have been lucky enough to help out our awesome members build up their pet collections. Every time I see someone post a new pet achievement or that they received Stormwing, I smile knowing that I was able to help it happen.
I want to thank Rusti for creating such a great community and Waka for managing it and helping to create what it is today. Thank you to all of the other staff members who give their free time to bring A3 to life.
Most of all, thank you to all of the members who donate, adopt, share, chat and play. Without you, there would be no agency.
With A3’s first birthday just around the corner, I thought it was a good opportunity to reflect on my time in the guild.
I can’t remember when I joined, although I remember it was months ago. Originally I joined to get pets to fill up my Pokédex, and I certainly have gained a few more pets from the guild bank through making requests, or a special event or two. However, when I got more involved with the guild through becoming a staff member, that initial reason for joining was forgotten.
Rather than obtaining pets through the guild, I’m probably more likely to donate them, either through donation drives, or having some spare that I’d like to get rid of (as long as they’re not on the Do Not Donate list, of course). This is almost as good as receiving pets through the guild.
The people on the A3 staff team are some of the best people I’ve had the opportunity to talk to in WoW, with senses of humour to complement mine. I live with one of them, but that’s a small detail. In our Skype calls I always feel a little out of place being the only guy, but I like to think it provides a refreshing change. Girl talk certainly takes on a new dimension.
I’ve seen that A3 really does a lot of great work, through the forums, blog, donations and such, and I enjoy being able to contribute to it in my own way. I’ve enjoyed my time in the guild thus far, though I’m usually not on my A3 character at the right time to see anyone else on, and I look forward to the next year!
Be sure to check out all the fun anniversary events we have going over on our main forums! There are tons of awesome prizes, including toys, super rare pets, TCG pets, and goodies from this year’s Blizzcon!
