Repping with Leashes – The Shado-Pan

The Shado-Pan

The Shado-Pan are a small faction of pandaren warriors who dedicate their lives to the protection of Pandaria from the influence of the physical embodiments of negative emotions, the Sha. Since the mists shrouding the continent dissipated their job has become much harder due to the unleashing of the Sha upon Pandaria in nearly every area, promulgated in part by the arrival of the Horde and Alliance.

The leader of the group is Taran Zhu. He appears to both the Horde and Alliance early in their Pandarian campaign in an attempt to beg them to not give in to their negative emotions. This goes unheeded, and the restraints upon the Sha are released, allowing them to spread throughout the land, producing areas of black and white decay and various dark denizens to inhabit them.

The order is based in the Shado-Pan Monastery, in the western reaches of the Kun-Lai Summit mountains. Adventurers deigning to explore the monastery will find it overrun with sha; even Taran Zhu was corrupted, and players are tasked with cleansing him at the end.

Reputation is fairly easy to earn with this faction, at least at the start. Nearly all quests in the Townlong Steppes grant reputation, with the exception of the ‘Mistlurkers in the Sumprushes’ storyline. The Shado-Pan storyline of Kun-Lai Summit also contributes. Completing all quests will get one close to Honored reputation (though Humans will actually get to Honored with their Diplomacy racial passive if they hand in the one-off quest item drop from the Sha of Anger). To go further, one will have to reach Revered with the Golden Lotus to unlock Shado-Pan daily quests. There are also a number of one-off challenge quests.

At Exalted, a very short quest chain of only two quests is unlocked. The second one, Surprise Attack!, will award the Reins of the Onyx Cloud Serpent.

A wide range of items are available from the quartermaster Rushi the Fox: armor, weapons, enchantments, the Grand Commendation of the Shado-Pan and, of course, three mounts: Reins of the Blue Shado-Pan Riding TigerReins of the Green Shado-Pan Riding Tiger and Reins of the Red Shado-Pan Riding Tiger.
